Description

Sand media filter use a sand bed formed by uniformly graded quartz sand as the filtration medium to achieve three-dimensional filtration. They are commonly used as primary filtration equipment in irrigation and water treatment systems.

The sand bed provides deep-layer filtration with strong impurity interception capability. Among various filtration systems, sand media filters are highly effective at removing suspended solids and inorganic impurities from water while maintaining continuous water supply.

Whenever the impurity content in water exceeds 10 mg/L, a sand media filter is recommended regardless of the level of inorganic matter present.

Working Principle

When the system is in filtration mode, pressurized water enters the distributor system through the filter inlet and is evenly distributed across the filter media layer. As the water passes through the media bed, suspended particles are trapped by the filter material. A slotted water collector at the bottom of the filter evenly collects the filtered clean water and discharges it from the system.

As impurities continuously accumulate in the filter media, pressure loss gradually increases. When the differential pressure reaches a preset value or the scheduled cleaning time is reached, the system automatically switches to backwash mode. Pressurized water flows upward through the water collector into the media layer, flushing and agitating the filter bed so that trapped contaminants are released and discharged from the filtration system. The backwash process lasts for at least 2 minutes, after which the valve automatically switches the system back to filtration mode.

Product Features

  • High filtration rate with low pressure loss, effectively solving the problems of slow filtration speed and low flow rate found in conventional media filters.
  • Modular design with compact footprint, reduced piping requirements, and lower installation costs. Installation space can be reduced by more than 40%, while piping work can be reduced by over 50%.
  • The system can be used independently or combined in multiple units according to irrigation capacity and filtration requirements.
